Get to Know the Team | Elisha Blewett

I sat down with the newest member to join our team, our Graphic Designer Elisha. I asked her some questions that I thought might help you understand this bubbly, crazy lady a bit more!

Where do you see Graphic Design going in the future? Have you noticed a difference in the kinds of designs clients want?

“It’s definitely becoming more digitally lead… Clients are much more aware of their online presence, they are conscious of Social Media and about having a website that sells their business.  A lot of people may say that print is dead, but I think it’s found a new life. Clients are investing more money into it as the possibilities are endless with luxurious finishes and different types of printing. Also, augmented reality makes it even more amazing!”

Tell me 2 truths and a lie but don’t tell me which one the lie is?

“I used to do Tae Kwon Do, a relative of mine babysat for Ozzy Osbourne, I did a skydive for charity.”

What would you tell your teenage self if you could?

“I’d say don’t be scared to take risks…I was worried about going to a uni in a larger city but I wish I went to uni in a city that had a bit more of a design culture as that was lacking in Chester. I still love my Chester friends though!”

What’s the most challenging part of your job?

“Probably getting clients to trust my vision and opinion. As I’m quite new, it can be hard to get them to envision the end result sometimes… They’re not always open to ideas but I’m definitely working on it!”

What is the best part of your job?

“I love meeting new clients and working in such a close team where everybody is really passionate and enthusiastic about what they do. It’s a good feeling when we all pitch ideas and help a client’s vision come to life.”

Have you always wanted to be a Graphic Designer?

“I have yes, since the age of 15. I did work placement for 2 weeks when I was 15 and absolutely loved it. I always knew I wanted to do something creative but didn’t know what, my Mom pushed me into it!”

Would you rather only use comic sans forever or design everything on Microsoft paint?

“Microsoft paint. Just because I hate Comic Sans sooo much!”

Pick a movie title that describes your life

“Bridget Jones Diary, I can completely relate to her life... I am as clumsy as her, if not clumsier, and as much as a noob too… Although, probably don’t relate to her on the guy front ha!”

What are your goals for the upcoming year?

“As for personal goals, I want a house, I wouldn’t mind getting on the property ladder once I know where I’d like to settle down. But for now I quite like travelling to new countries and would like to go to South of France. In terms of professional goals, I want to become stronger and more confident with logo design and pitching.”

If you could only eat one food for the rest of your life, what would it be?

“Marmite. I'm like obsessed with it! Marmite on toast? It’s amazing. NO marmite on muffins because that is incredible!”

If you could stay one age forever, what age would it be and why?

“I’d say 24… It’s the year I was quite happy, had a new car, new job, travelled and felt happy with life. I went on a few city breaks and it’s also the last year before I had to tick the 25+ box.... It’s a good age because you have a bit of wisdom in you. Only a tiny bit though...”

What do you consider to be your greatest achievement?

“Having a job I wanted to do since 15. Everybody warned me saying it was too competitive to get into… But here I am! I’d say that’s one of my greatest achievements.”

If you weren’t working at Win Media and were doing a completely different job what would it be?

“I would 100% be an architect, I appreciate building structures and think the whole process is incredibly interesting... I love how a building can echo a personality of a company or a city.”

That completes our interview with Elisha, our Graphic Designer! We’ve done these posts on some of our other team members. You can check out some of our others here, here and here!
